A.Bergere Rose de Saigne Champagne Brut, 750ml, France
History
Our family is established in Fèrebrianges, in the heart of the Vallée du Petit Morin, where we have owned vineyards since 1848. Developing our know-how and passing on our knowledge is embedded in our history.
Armand, Albert and André.
…founded and expanded the wine domaine, leaving us with a fabulous resource for creating “terroir” wines.Adrien and Annaëlle
…cherish this wonderful legacy and build on it in their own unique way. Today, we continue to write history for the generations to come, true to one overriding principle: passion. Our ethos
As artisans of the terroir, we strive to bring out the potential of our vineyard plots in wines crafted with the utmost care and dedication. Our viticulture is sustainable and eco-friendly using Nature as our primary tool.
Mindful of the fact that the finest wines come from exceptional grapes, we carefully tend each vineyard plot, vinifying their grapes separately and minimizing our intervention in the winemaking process.
As creators of emotion, we produce fine wines from the Champagne region that embody the passion we put into each and every bottle.
An ode to the Vallée du petit morin
Our domaine owns 45 hectares and 35 of these are located in the Vallée du Petit Morin, in the communes of Fèrebrianges, Étoges and Congy. The clay with millstone grit soils of this terroir are particularly suited to the Chardonnay grape, while the flinty clay soils are ideal for the Pinot Noir.
The remaining 10 hectares are equally divided across the villages of Sézanne and Bethon in the Sézannais area, and the Côte des Blancs, on the terroirs of Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly, Cramant and Oger.
Vinification
Terroirs : Fèrebrianges – Etoges - Congy
Sector : Vallée du Petit Morin Soil : argile - calcaire
Blend : 50% chardonnay – 50% pinot noir
Vinification : partially in oak barrels Dosage : 7 g/l
Harvest : 2020
Vines on limestone soils in the village of Ferebrianges.
We are constantly seeking the expression of our terroir through viticulture that respects nature.
Vinification and aging on lees, partially in 228L barrels. For this harvest, a 36- hour maceration was carried out, with 50% destemmed Pinot Noir and 50% crushed Chardonnay. The idea was to blend the two in the maceration tank to allow the Pinot Noir to gently color the Chardonnay. The Chardonnay brings finesse and floral notes to this vintage.
